After spending a year getting to know Amber Switzer and Holly Goodyear during Eternal Health Yoga’s 2017-18 teacher training, I am thrilled to introduce them to our EHY family as our newest instructors! I can’t wait for you all to get to know them too. Here is my interview with Holly:

As we begin, why don’t you tell us a bit about yourself?

I’m a Licensed Massage Therapist, Reiki Master Teacher, Yoga Teacher and Universal Life Minister.  I’ve lived in Louisville for 46 years and am  a native of this amazing city!  After a long career as a Licensed Life and Health Insurance broker, I decided to change my career path from corporate to community.  My passion for creating “out of the box” wellness programs onsite created the desire to work on the therapeutic side of healthcare. I offer Corporate Wellness Services such as Massage and Yoga in the workplace.  I also have a studio in Clifton where I provide individual wellness services under my practice, The Reiki Station, LLC.  I’m married with two beautiful adult children.

Tell me a bit about what led you to begin a yoga practice? And how did you find Eternal Health Yoga?

In 2010, after a 125 pound weight loss, I started my  practice of yoga under the Bikram style. I was practicing for some final weight loss and skin restoration.  However, I quickly realized that Yoga was more than an asana based practice. I was introduced to the Eight Limb Path of Ashtanga Yoga at Eternal Health Yoga. The continued mental and emotional changes in my body responded so well to the fullness of the Eight Limb practice, I decided to enroll in the 2017 teacher training at EHY.

What was teacher training like for you?

It changed my life completely. I have no regrets on the time spent with the Eternal Health Yoga teachers. Yoga is a lifestyle that anyone can enter. I want my students to realize that Yoga is for everyone, not just the flexible and strong.  Yoga trains us to be flexible and strong, even when we think we are not. EHY Teacher Training will open your mind up to the possibility of self healing.  It assists you in believing more in yourself than you think you can. It stretches you and not just in body but in mind.

You are a LMT and a Reike master. Would you like to tell us about massage and reike? Do those disciplines influence your approach to teaching yoga?

As a Licensed Massage Therapist and Reiki Master, I desire to see the body restored. To me, it is most important that I provide my services from a place of authenticity.

What classes will you be teaching at EHY? What is most important to you in a Hatha yoga practice?

Beginning June 7th at 4:30 I will be offering Hatha and Hatha Flow classes each Thursday and Friday at Eternal Health Yoga.  The class will be helpful for the beginner and advanced yogi.  As a Hatha teacher, I offer a completely balanced in sequencing that allows  the student time to mindfully make adjustments. I encourage the students to deeply connect with the breath.  I enjoy the opportunity to teach Pranayama during the Hatha practice as well!

And finally… just for fun, tell us something about yourself that not many people know!

Something many people don’t know about me is that I am extremely shy! My outgoing personality comes from my practice of public speaking, but my favorite moments are when I am alone under a beautiful tree, writing in my journal, enjoying the silence of being with God.

Join Holly for her first yoga class at Eternal Health Yoga this Thursday June 7th at 4:30pm!

A very special thanks to Amber and Holly! I am so grateful they are part of our EHY community and for this time I’ve been able to spend getting to know them!
