| Tibetan Monks Visit May 18, 2007 |
Since last December a group of eight Tibetan Buddhist Monks from the Drepung Gomang Monastery in Southern India have been traveling the US leading prayers for peace, creating sacred sand mandalas for peace and healing and offering Tibetan cultural performances.
Many people are familiar with Tibet's spiritual and secular leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and his wise and humble teachings about world peace, compassion, personal and world wholeness. Yet many are not aware of the extreme suffering that Tibetan people continue to endure even today, both in their homeland, under occupation of the Chinese communist government, and in exile (in India, Nepal, the US and beyond). Five of the current tour group fled Tibet themselves, at great peril, and are unable to return to see their families.
Eternal Health Yoga was delighted and honored to have had the opportunity to host this Sacred Arts Tour Group on Friday, May18, 2007. We began the evening with a potluck dinner, after which the monks shared information about Tibet's history and current situation, and closed the evening with a beautifully moving ceremonial blessing for our sacred yogic space.
